Become the Future of GITA; Become a Board Member!

The Geospatial Information and Technology Association (GITA) is currently accepting resumes of interest for positions to their Board of Directors.  GITA will have three Board seats open beginning January 1, 2019 for a two-year term ending December 31, 2020.
 
Are you or someone you know interested in advocating for the geospatial community?  If so, GITA's Board of Directors is the place you need to be.  As a member of the Board of Directors, you will play a vital role in helping to direct the organization as GITA continues its mission to represent the broader geospatial community.
 
The executive management team is especially interested in candidates who can assist with:
  • Organizational leadership and advisement
  • Help formulate policies and procedures
  • Assist with financial management
  • Develop and oversee program planning and evaluation
  • Promote GITA, its local chapters, regional and national events
  • Serve as a representative to other associations, industry groups and governmental agencies
  • Assist in fundraising and outreach
Interested candidates should be willing to:
  • Attend and participate in monthly teleconference meetings on a regular basis
  • Attend a minimum of one face-to-face meeting per year
  • Participate on a standing committee of the Board
  • Be alert to industry concerns that may be addressed by GITA's mission, objectives, and programs
  • Help communicate GITA's mission and programs to the geospatial community
  • Participate in national and local chapter events

Nominations will be reviewed by the executive committee, and candidates meeting the qualifications shall be placed on the ballot and voted on by the membership.  New Board members will be notified after the vote in December with a public announcement to be made in January 2019.
