Calendar Listings―GITA’s Geospatial Infrastructure Solutions Conference and Geospatial Dimensions of Emergency Response Symposium

Aurora, Colo., Oct. 17, 2007The Geospatial Information & Technology Association (GITA) is pleased to announce that the inaugural Geospatial Infrastructure Solutions Conference (formerly GITA’s Annual Conference) and Geospatial Dimensions of Emergency Response Symposium will both be held in Seattle, Wash., March 9-12, 2008.

The infrastructure conference will include 13 seminars, 111 technical paper presentations, and much more that focus on geographic information systems (GIS) and their application to worldwide infrastructure. An additional seminar and at least 10 more technical sessions will comprise the first-ever Geospatial Dimensions of Emergency Response, being held within the larger Geospatial Infrastructure Solutions Conference. There will be a shared 100,000-square-foot exhibit floor, registration form, and conference space for both events.

GITA invites anyone involved in the operation, protection, maintenance, and ownership of infrastructure to attend the event, which is the first and only conference completely dedicated to solving infrastructure issues and crises with geospatial technology.

Association leaders changed the “Annual Conference” to the “Geospatial Infrastructure Solutions Conference” in June of 2007. This repositioning and shift in how GITA brands and markets the event better reflect the broader interests and industry audiences that GITA’s conference has accommodated for the past 30 years. GITA understands that a significant evolution and an elevation of experience have occurred in the geospatial user community since the organization’s inception in 1982. The geospatial industry has officially migrated from being exclusively geographic information systems (GIS)—a “technology”—to being a full-fledged industry that is instrumental in the management of the critical infrastructure that supports every aspect of civil life.
