Thank you for wanting to learn more about GITA's web and IT capabilities that support your membership experience. They are substantial and this website is part of that infrastructure. It is both the "front side" of the Association's online presence, and a dynamic "back side" that provides engaged users with an online experience which leverages robust capabilities for individuals, chapters, and groups. Find below some overview information that will help you get started in this evolving collaborative community.
Getting Started With Your GITA Account
After you receive your user name and password that provides access to your member account, sign in to your account by clicking 'Sign
In' in the upper-right corner of the home page or by clicking ‘Sign In’ under the Home menu item on the left side bar. Please
take a moment to update your profile information by clicking any of the ‘Edit’
links on the profile screen.
You may also upload a profile image by hovering over the photo icon and clicking ‘Add Photo’.
To edit other features of your member account, including email notification preferences and profile options, navigate to ‘Manage Profile’ on the right menu bar and click ‘Preferences’ under Information and Settings. Also on the ‘Manage Profile’ screen are a variety of associated options available to members to connect with others, review invoice and dues history, post photo and blog content, and most importantly, review past event attendance and professional development. These last two features allow members to track their progress toward being awarded the GISP certification.
Events are tied to an up-to-date calendar visible on the right-hand side, and news items are fed into Latest News from the News page. Additionally, there is a space for the President and representatives to GISCI, NGAC and NSGIC to have blogs, as well as links to related blogs from outside GITA.
The Learning Center is the centerpiece of GITA’s new website, and will eventually include all content available in association's archives and more. Each link on the Learning Center page directs you to a file library where content may be viewed and downloaded. And as further offerings are produced by GITA, they will be added here.
This website also features a dynamic search engine capable of reading through documents by topics, author name, and other key words. The member directory indexes all of the current GITA members by the information in their profile that has been listed as visible to other members. Searches may be conducted based on email address, first and/or last name, geography, chapter/group, and organization.
Additional information about the items discussed above can be found by reviewing other topic items this section of the website, or by viewing an informational webinar located here.
