President's Summer Message
Tuesday, July 28, 2015
Fellow GITA Members:
Welcome once again to the GITA website! I hope your summer is going well.
School may be out for the kids, but I hope you don't take a break from GITA's excellent educational offerings for summer 2015!
On the east coast, GITA is proud to be a strategic partner and to assist in presenting GeoBuiz 2015, which will be hosted in North Bethesda, Maryland, August 10-11. GeoBuiz will be an intense international meeting focusing upon geospatial technology business trends and directions, innovation, implementation, education and research. Keynote addresses, panel discussions, and case studies will be drawn from the utility, infrastructure, government, and business analytics industries. This is an inaugural event you do not want to miss!
Down in the great state of Texas, GITA will be providing more educational opportunities at our annual GITA Oil and Gas Pipeline conference, which is once again teamed with the PODS User Conference to create Pipeline Week. Last year we had record attendance at what has become GITA’s signature conference. With an exhibit floor nearly twice the size of last year, and an unprecedented number of papers submitted, look for this to be the best oil and gas pipeline event ever offered in Texas, or anywhere else for that matter! Pipeline Week runs September 15-17 at The Woodlands,Texas. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to network, learn and socialize with your geospatial colleagues!
Taking a look back at this spring’s events; both the GITA Mid-Atlantic and Pacific Northwest chapters held their annual regional conferences. Both conferences were highly successful, and provided GITA members and geospatial practitioners with the opportunity to present and learn in a more intimate setting. Videos and presentations from both conferences will be uploaded soon to the GITA Learning Center, so keep an eye open for announcements as to when the presentations will be available.
At GITA we pride ourselves on providing you, our member, with the finest educational opportunities, whether at national and regional conferences or via web based presentations. As I said earlier, school may be out for the kids, but in this competitive environment we find ourselves in, who among us can really afford to “take the summer off”?
Stay cool, enjoy an iced summer beverage, and don’t forget the sunscreen!
Regards & Best Wishes,
Mark E. Limbruner, GISP
