Upper Midwest Geospatial Conference 2016

The geospatial community has entered a dynamically trans-formative period which is being shaped by a combination of disruptive technologies, competing standards, and approaches to business that are in conflict or changing rapidly. Driven by a need to examine these issues and their corresponding implications for the future, six Midwest geospatial organizations are offering a collaborative examination of the very best information on emerging geospatial trends and technologies.

The geospatial community has entered a dynamically trans-formative period which is being shaped by a combination of disruptive technologies, competing standards, and approaches to business that are in conflict or changing rapidly. Driven by a need to examine these issues and their corresponding implications for the future, six Midwest geospatial organizations are offering a collaborative examination of the very best information on emerging geospatial trends and technologies.

With a combined current membership of greater than 2,500 GIS professionals, the organizations that have come together to create UMGEOCON 2016 are the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing – Western Great Lakes RegionGeospatial Information and Technology AssociationIowa Geographic Information CouncilMinnesota GIS/LIS ConsortiumSharedGeo, and Wisconsin Land Information Association. Importantly, this level of organizational collaboration supports advancement of the NSDI, related objectives of DHSEPAFGDC ,HIFLDNGACNSFNSGICUSGS, and other national and regional geospatial programs.
