March 23, 2010
USGS Reston Office

Reston, VA 20192
Time: 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
The Federal Liaison Advisory Group, or FLAG, was created by the GITA Board of Directors in 2004 to represent the association and its various member constituencies in ‘dialogues, meetings, conferences and other venues’ with the Federal Geographic Data Committee and other federal agencies and to assist the board in determining and coordinating appropriate responses by GITA to federal initiatives and requests.
Purpose
The Federal Liaison Advisory Group of GITA exists (1) to communicate information to GITA’s membership about national geospatial initiatives and programs that are relevant to their interests, (2) to coordinate responses, develop programs and otherwise address these issues on behalf of the membership to ensure that their interests are represented at the national level, and (3) to leverage the considerable resources within GITA’s membership to contribute to national infrastructure-related initiatives.
Mission
The FLAG is the lead association entity responsible for strengthening GITA’s relationships with federal and state agencies and raising awareness of the association and its programs at the national level. FLAG accomplishes its mission by actively engaging volunteer FLAG members to successfully pursue stated objectives as approved by the GITA Board of Directors.
