EPCOR
The current members of GITA at EPCOR come from varied backgrounds and business units. We have a field crew user, a dispatcher, directors, engineers, drafting technologists, and a work management coordinator as part of this list.
Benefits:
- Membership with GITA provides our users with the opportunity to learn about what is happening in the industry. This is achieved by gaining access to the free publications that come with the GITA membership.
- Automatic membership to the local chapter. Alberta has a very active GITA chapter and usually has about 4-5 GIS seminars, a golf tournament and one large combined GIS conference. Membership with the GITA ensures that we get into these events sometimes free or for a very small or reduced fee. For a big group, the savings really add up.
- Membership with GITA also means that we get to attend other local GIS organizations seminars/presentations, like URISA and AGG at reduced rates.
Perhaps a good reason why EPCOR invests in GITA membership is to spread the awareness of GIS as a technology for various business processes. Many projects have developed because the member/users are exposed to industry trends and can see a way of implementing the technology for various business processes in EPCOR.

SAWS utilizes it’s membership with GITA to make the employees more aware and excited about GIS and to keep them informed of the most current technologies and applications in the ever changing GIS field.
